Functions of liver
The liver performs important digestive and excretory functions, store and process nutrient, synthesizes new molecules and detoxifies harmful chemicals
Storage role of liver
1-Hepatocytes can remove sugar from they blood and store it in the form of glycogen
2-Hepatocyted store fat,vitamins(A,B12,D,E and K),copper and iron
Metabolic role of liver
1-Metabolism of glucose occurs in liver
2-Denaturation of fatty acids and phosphorylation of fat take place in liver cells
3-Phagocytosis also occur in liver
4-Red blood cells are formed during fetal life
5-Liver produces heparin
