Introduction To Protein

PROTEINS:

The word protein mean prime importance and it is true proteins has prime importance in our body. our hair consist of proteins, nail also consist some amount of protins. Haemoglobin also consist of protein.  Cell membrane also consist of protein.As we know that without enzymes there is no concept of life all enzymes are protein except Ribozymes(which consist of RNA and are found in ribosome). I provided some information about occurance of enzyme proteins are present in many other parts so i think now you can understand it why study of protein is essential. Let's start
          Proteins contain C,H,O and N, while some some contain P,S. Few proteins have FE,I and Mg incorporated into the molecule. Chemically protein can be defined as POLYMER OF AMINO ACIDS

             STRUCTURE:

protein is polymer of amino acid. Polymer consist of two word poly mean many and mer mean unit. So we can say that protein is made up of amino acids like our body which is made up of cells samelike proteins made up of amino acids amount of amino acids in diffrent proteins are diffrent. i think without understanding amino acid you cant understand clearly about protein so let's talk about amino acids

        AMINO ACID:

Amino acids are the building block of proteins. There are many amino acids known to occur but it was obserbved that 20 amino acids are common or commonly found in all proteins. Amino acids are micromolecules.in this structure you clearly see that amino acid consist carbon atom in the centre to this carbon a hydrogen atom, an amino group(_NH2), a carboxyl group(_COOH) and a variable group known as _R group are attached actually this R group has different structure in each of the 20 amino acids which are commonly found in proteins we also say that with the help of R group we can differentiate and determine their individual chemical properties of 20 amino acids that are commonly found in proteins . this R group has different value for example in one amino acid this R is hydrogen and this amino acid known as fly cine and in other amino acid its structure is CH3 and this amino acid known as ALANINE so you clearly see that because of only R group difference two amino acids has different properties and name
